Art we like that you wouldn't think we would like
Dear readers, today we have another exciting contest for you. This one might prove to be a bit difficult even to those of you who know us quite well (actually, especially for you, come to think of it).
In this contest, each of us Shingle Paradise residents has picked a favorite piece of artwork that no one would think we like. For each piece, there is a specific reason why we shouldn't like it (for example, if Sara only likes paintings portraying animals, hers might be a portrait. Conversely, if Mia generally detests Cubism, hers would be the one and only Cubist piece that she likes). In your comments, please say which piece you think each girl has chosen, as well as why you think she wouldn't like it.

You can also comment why you think we might like the artwork despite whichever reason there might be for us to generally not be inclined to like it, if that makes any sense or helps your thought processes.

All I have to say is that I live here and I don't know whose artwork belongs to who...except for my own of course. You should all get mine easily its the only cool one on here...no offense girls.

yeah, mine's the only beautiful one. the rest are kinda ugly. i was shocked that none of you picked anything more aesthetically pleasing. sara's is mildly well-done, but it's so repulsive for other reasons that it can hardly be called "aesthetically pleasing" much less "beautiful". well, that's enough hints for our dear readers.

That was really a very good guess. It was about 45% correct, which is quite impressive for this post. If some more people would be brave and guess I'd highly enjoy being able to post the ansers.

I was thinking of Kara and "classical" type things. This statue would definitely fall into the category of classical art... or so I think anyway. And, because the art was not so "modest" it might surprise us that Kara liked this. I was trying to remember a post from her travels in Turkey and thinking she commented on pieces like this. That or I just gave up and made a random switch.
Jess being the resident artist, I figured that the beauty of this painting might be pleasing to her, while a representation of madonna might be unsuspected.... But, still it's a da Vinci... I saw my first in person a few months ago. BEAUTIFUL!
By the way, nice to meet you Keith, I am Mrs. J. Perhaps we will meet face to face sometime. However, Kim B. has mentioned your family to me a few times in the past when she talked about her school and families in the church she knew.
I also managed to travel without luggage on one occasion, so your luggageless stories amuse me...

So here are my guesses. I am rather dubious as to weather any one of them is actually correct, but I have been pressured by some to cast my ballot.
Mia – 1
Very classical, but portraying the Virgin Mary, which is a theme Mia generally does not approve of.
Jessica – 2
One of the cooler paintings chosen, this might only be a little surreal for her tastes.
Kara – 3
Portraying classical Greek mythology, Kara’s only problem with this piece is the nudity.
Sara – 4
Not a landscape, but an interesting if not altogether realistic snapshot of life for a farmer and his wife in the 1930s. I fully admit this is the weakest of my answers, but I could not think of a better way to make it work out.
